Today i reviewed the ROCCAT Kone mouse, the flag ship gaming mouse with maximum customisation and real 3200dpi setting. I have long been a Logitech G5 Laser Gaming Mouse fan, however this line has been discontinued and there lies the choice, weather to stay with Logitech or try somthing new.
Introduction
Upon first recieving the mouse i was pretty impressed, the packaging looks the business and the review and recommendation stickers make this piece of kit look pretty lean. I got the mouse setup, drivers/software installed and ready to go. Now i am a fan of the ROCCAT Taito surface anyway, so i'm testing the two together. This mouse comes with all sorts of customisation options, i think i spent around 10 minutes just messing with the lights settings. This is afterall a pretty good looking mouse anyway.
Customisation
As with all gaming mice you naturally expect to be able to alter the weight, this is not a feature ROCCAT deprive of you. I got the mouse to feel a comfortable weight and i started to mess with the dpi and configuration settings to get it to feel as comfortable as possible.
Tracking
The first thing i noticed was that the TCU Tracking system was incredible, this things tracks the mousepad from a good inch above the actual mousepad. However i think ROCCAT have actually done too much of a good job here. I'm the type of low sens player who constantly lifts and drags the mouse around. With the ROCCAT Kone, i cant do this, because as soon as i lift the mouse (which is still heavily tracking) i end up pointing no-where near my targets. When tracking enemies at range, this mouse is fantastic. It's great for snipers and long-range players however when you get into a short-range reaction or flick shot scenario, it's a pretty hard mouse to get used to.
Adjustment
So i can adjust right ? I put the sens up a little and tried to pick the mouse up as little as possible, the general flow of movement is excellent on this mouse, you feel like your floating round the map. The side buttons are fantastic too, in the perfect position for my thumb. Now the scroll wheel, which on the Logitech G5 is quite prominant in stance, it sits fairly high, the Kone's wheel actually sits alot flatter. It's not flush but feels like there is a big jump from one to the other.
Conclusion
My final conclusion is that this is a fantastic mouse, one of the best that i've had the pleasure to review and test. The up side is that this looks and feels great. The ergonomics are fantastic and fits my hand like a dream. For high-sensitivity players there probably isnt a better mouse on the market, and when coupled with the Tatio surface is incomparable for me. However I'm sticking with my current Logitech G5 and will look for somthing more similar as time passes.

this mouse looks potentially insane! I have got the razer krait and im looking for a more sophisticated mouse, and this seems to be one to knock it off the block! The technology seems to be well thought out and it would be an honour to even touch this mouse! Good luck to you all also, may the best man win :)

After just buying a Roccat Apuri I have to say Roccat products are very impressive. I shall definately pick up a Kone asap :D
