This months review and comment to win competition is the Razer Goliathus gaming surface. Their are two options available, control edition and the speed edition. The only differences are simply as their names would suggest. You can pick up both types for as little as £9.00. There are three size options available; small, medium and large. Now unless you want a new table cloth then medium is quite sufficient!

- Oversized 444mm X 355mm X 4.3mm Design
- Standard 355mm X 254mm X 4mm Design
- Space-efficient 270mm x 215mm x 4mm Design
The mat itself has a really nice texture to it, it's slightly more coarse than your normal cloth pad. I currently use the Roccat Taito which is a very finely woven and smooth pad. The Goliathus on the other hand is pretty much the arch enemy of the Taito with a heavily textured weave. Now dont let the fact that its coarse put you off. This mousepad is pretty awesome, it feels well manufactured and you certainly feel your money was well spent.
I originally used the Steelseries Ikari mouse on this pad at work, then the Logitech G5 and now i use a Razer Mamba. All of the mice tracked the surface beautifully. It's an awesome mouse pad for graphics, gaming and general use. Due to its comfortable bounce like most cloth pads its a welcome break for you wrists in the winter.
I've used the same pad for about two years now and it doesn't need replacing at all. Its very easy to clean, a simple lift and shake is all it needs. You can machine wash it too if you spill somthing over it, but with all cloth pads that are machine washable, i'd recommend sticking them in a pillow case to protect the edges from fraying.
Overall this is a top mousepad and i think where value for money is concerned, there is no other pad that tops it. I'll be reviewing another surface from SteelSeries later this month so if you're currently pondering over what pad to get then hold tight for a couple of weeks to read that review.

Tidy review there MaT. I made the mistake of purchasing a Razer eXact mat, the control side is “ok” at best and the speed side is just a waste of time as it provides little to no precision, how did you find the difference between the two sides for the galiathus?
Great tip about washing it, makes me want to buy one just to stick it in the wash!! haha

you can only use one side of the goliathus, u have to buy either the control or speed version. I'd recommend the control version tho!

Pretty funny.... Always wanted this mousemat since i saw it come out on the Razer website, but unfortuneatly i bought the Razer Sphex right before it was released ^^ Oh well, hopefully i'll get lucky, otherwise i'll buy one :P
