After 10 hours of epic gaming for our CSS and CoD4 boys at the Multiplay i40 LAN event, both teams have crashed out of the lower bracket, and are now eliminated from the tournament. Despite the disappointment and countless technical problems, we now walk away with a new motivation, and a lot of positives to take back to our online endeavours.
Our CoD4 team battled fatigue and a lack of sleep as they made use of the on-site accommodation options, and found themselves unable to practice on the Thursday night due to a lack of Internet. They were able to pick up a win against No Return in the lower bracket, before dropping out 13-3 to FORIN BEGGARS on Crash. The line-up, who met their revised seed of 9th, have already agreed to stick together past LAN, and we look forward to them representing us again for the near future.
The CSS team also struggled with the volume of games that were squeezed together on the Saturday, and maybe would have produced some different results had play rolled over to Sunday morning as well. After a disappointing loss to mySKI (Avash is shit tbh) the team dropped into the lower bracket, and earned a nice win against Livingfire.Divinity. Confidence was on a high as the GLG game approached, but energy levels were clearly down as the TwistedPlay team rolled through to a comfortable 16-4 win.
From both teams, some strong performances were put in, and a lot of important lessons were learnt that will only help us to improve in the future. With 3 months until the next i-series event, the guys have more than enough time to put the pieces together and build on what we've already managed to achieve together.
This has been a cracking couple of days, and it's been great to see the VATIC shirts strutting around. Fingers crossed we can win it next time!
